Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter David Ayscue delivers his somber-sweet debut LP, Southwood Waltz.
Set to the tone of an easygoing, whimsical soundscape, the 8-track project explores the happenings of a man crossing over from adolescence into adulthood.
The theme is especially present on songs like Southwood’s opener “New York” where David touches on the harsh realities that often come with life in the beloved city.
Another highlight on the album is the nostalgic “Back In My Day” that recalls David’s childhood in Marin County, CA.
“It’s about feeling stuck as an adult, looking for something to grasp onto, and thinking back to a time when everything was so vivid and in-the-moment.”
