Swiss emcee and producer duo Conscious Presence (Sound-Sage and The Soul Seeker) deliver their debut self-titled album that features well-crafted boom-bap production and clever rhymes for the thinkers, dreamers and lovers of bars with substance.
The 21-track project comes a year after CP’s union which started with the pair sharing and comparing the same philosophies about life and music.
Their out-the-box outlook on life shines through as they aim to provide a unique experience for their die-hard fans and new listeners who are intrigued on how Hip-Hop heads from Switzerland really get down.
With well-rounded lyricism and impressive production, the album features an array of standout tracks including the thought-provoking “Soul Trap,” the smooth, gritty “The Vibes,” and the night-time cool “Black Emerald.”
The interludes, outerlude, and scratches by DJ Okay and Ra Pius pull the project together without taking away from the overall theme of consciousness, accountability and hope.
Conscious Presence speaking on the album’s creative process:
“We recorded everything in Satori Records vintage studio onto a tape machine, which means every song was recorded one-take, even with the DJs on cue doing scratches. Even the music video was filmed with an old tape camera to keep the feeling authentic. Sound quality of the 70s, music of the 90s and a message of today.”
