After dropping a slew of dope singles and videos throughout 2017, Portland-born, Oakland-based producer/emcee TOPE releases his brand new EP, Some Things Gotta Change.
The 7-track project features production from Stewart Villain, Zach Striar and TOPE himself while Cash Campain and Erikka J hold down the guest features.
The tone of Some Things Gotta Change ranges from feel-good to introspective as TOPE chronicles some of his ups-and-downs, trying to transition for a small-town rapper to making it on a larger scale.
Although a short listen, the EP leaves a lasting impression as it blends a mixture of light-hearted party jams with personal and emotional revelations.
With lead summer singles like “Glo’d Up” and “The Man,” TOPE gives listeners an update on his current life in Cali while also taking time out to address the recent increase of police brutality on “Let Us Pray.”
